1881 Cape Fear & Yadkin Valley Railroad purchases Fayetteville & Florence Railroad
1883 Cape Fear & Yadkin Valley Railroad reorganizes into Cape Fear & Yadkin Valley Railway
1883 - 1884 Cape Fear & Yadkin Valley Railway builds railroad from Fayetteville to Bennettsville; includes the present Red Springs & Northern Railroad
1892 Atlantic Coast Line builds new mainline "Fayetteville Cutoff" southbound from Fayetteville, parallel to the Cape Fear & Yadkin Valley Railway
1894 Cape Fear & Yadkin Valley Railway falls into receivership; Atlantic Coast Line takes ownership
1899 Atlantic Coast Line abandons original line from Fayetteville to Hope Mills to just west of Parkton as duplicate line
1967 Atlantic Coast Line merges with Seaboard Air Line to form Seaboard Coast Line; much of original line is abandoned, including line south of Red Springs
? Red Springs & Northern Railroad takes ownership of line from Parkton to Red Springs
2002 Red Springs & Northern Railroad continues to exist from Parkton to Red Springs
Dec 20, 2004 Red Springs & Northern Foundation takes ownership of the railroad from Advancement, Inc
