History:
Railroad incorporated April 12, 1904 as Ione & Eastern Railroad.
Opened from Ione to Mountain Springs in 1904, and to Martell in 1905.
Amador Central Railroad took over operations of the line on January 1, 1909.
AMC acquired by Georgia-Pacific Corp in June 1988.
Georgia-Pacific acquired by Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) in early 1997.
Last revenue freight run of AMC on March 28, 1997, and line shut down.
SierraPine acquired the particle board plant in Martell from SPI in May 1997.
In 1999, SierraPine entered into an agreement with SPI to lease and operate the line. Railroad renamed Amador Foothills Railroad.
Because of poor track condition, AFRR made its last run on June 7, 2004 and line shut down.
