- Railroad incorporated April 12, 1904 as Ione & Eastern Railroad.
- Opened from Ione to Mountain Springs in 1904, and to Martell in 1905.
- Amador Central Railroad took over operations of the line on January 1, 1909.
- AMC acquired by Georgia-Pacific Corp in June 1988.
- Georgia-Pacific acquired by Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) in early 1997.
- Last revenue freight run of AMC on March 28, 1997, and line shut down.
- SierraPine acquired the particle board plant in Martell from SPI in May 1997.
- In 1999, SierraPine entered into an agreement with SPI to lease and operate the line. Railroad renamed Amador Foothills Railroad.
