In 1881, the Union Plank Walk Railtrack and Wharf Co. became the Arcata & Mad River Rail Road.
Line owned by Arcata (California) Redwood Corporation.
The corporation was purchased by Simpson Lumber Co. in 1960.
Railroad shut down and line abandoned on May 24, 1985.
Line sold to Eureka Southern Railroad in 1988.
