History:
Chehalis Western formed by Weyerhaeuser in 1936 after purchasing a line running between Chehalis and Dryad from MILW.
Line beyond Ruth was not operated, and removed. A new branch was built south from Ruth to Camp McDonald.
Curtis to Camp McDonald segment abandoned in 1975, and the railroad was reorganized as the Curtis, Milburn & Eastern Railroad on Dec 1, 1975.

History:
Purchased trackage from MILW in 1980, and operated it as non-common carrier Chehalis Western Railroad.
Circa 1981, operations of the Curtis, Milburn & Eastern Railroad and Weyerhaeuser "Vail Line" were absorbed into Chehalis Western.
Railroad shut down in July 1992.
Line between Chehalis and Tacoma sold to City of Tacoma in 1995, and operations contracted out to Tacoma Eastern Railway.
Tacoma Eastern ceased operations in 1998, and service taken over by Tacoma Rail.
