Railfan Pictures of the Week - 09/01/2019

Pennsylvania Northeastern Bethlehem Branch Lansdale PA August 23 2019

To celebrate Lansdale's Founders Day, the Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad ran three days of excursions originating at Lansdale Station. Four passenger cars from the affiliated New Hope and Ivyland Railroad were brought to town overnight on PN W230. Friday morning the train was staged in the yard for the evening's three runs on the Bethlehem Branch. The southern unit would be GP9M PN 7010.
On the north end, a surprise. It appeared that the power would be C39-8 PN 8212 coupled to SD40-2W PN 5342. 8212 had been sidelined and presumed retired since March, but it was running quite well today.
Alas, it was not to be, as PN left 8212 off the train for the actual runs.
The new alignment that PN had been working on the past few weeks was substantially complete, changing the former crossover from the industrial track to the running train into a simple switch.
The first run of the evening crosses over Schwab Road and Orvilla Road.
