The Changing Face of Perkinsville
In the spring of 1958 Ed Weber and Tom Taber, III
set out to document the DL&W depots west of Scranton prior to the
merger with the Erie. Ed brought the topo maps and Tom
drove. Here is Ed's shot of Perkinsville taken May 18, 1958.
Ed points out that the station signs were already removed as of this
date, probably because the DL&W was no longer using the
station.
Contrast Gary LaPointe's shot taken four decades
later.
In Jon Rothenmeyer's shot you can still see through
the trees the remains of the factory that is clearly visible in the
background of Ed Weber's 1958 shot.
