Alaska Alaska Train Photos - Paul Yorke - May 1999
In remote spots the RR folks power their signals using alternate power.
This is no joke. I saw several of these rigs. In these mountains the wind blows continuously, and in the summer you have sun almost all day.  On top of that I suspect they have one or two trains a day. May not have any in winter. This was the track from Anchorage to Denali National park. The park closes in the winter.
