ex-Reader Railroad #108

Reader Railroad #108 has a very colorful history. Built by Baldwin in February of 1920  as builder #52820, it was sold to the San Augustine County Lumber Co. of Texas as #108.

It eventually became the Angelina & Neches River RR 108 until it’s sale to the Reader RR in 1956. In 1976, the Reader sold the 108 to the Conway Scenic Railroad. In 2000, the 108 was again sold. This time the Blacklands RR for a proposed restoration. Since the Blacklands Railroad purchased the locomotive, it’s status has become a bit of a mystery.

As shown in the accompanying photo, it supposedly still sits in pieces where the Blacklands RR had supposed worked on it until 2003. There are several parts missing, most notably the smokestack. It is rumored that it has since been purchased by the Rannoch Corporation, however this has not been confirmed.
