Salvation Through the Passover Lamb

Salvation  Through  The  Passover  Lamb

.

The following is a simple, brief thought on the Jewish Passover as to how it relates to Christian salvation,

as well as how it refutes the Jewish belief that salvation is come unto the Jew through Abraham.

As Christians, we rejoice in our relationship to Jesus through grace and believe that this is the only path unto salvation.  On the other hand, Jews rejoice in their relationship to Abraham through circumcision, and believe that this is the only path unto salvation.

But if, according to Jewish belief, being in the lineage of Abraham is what guarantees Jews protection from judgement and entry into the kingdom of God, then why did God require them to put the blood of a lamb on their doorposts to protect them during the passover in Egypt?  Their relation to Abraham was already secured at that time, so why did God require the blood of a lamb for protection if they already had Abraham as their father?

The simply, obvious and only possible answer to this is that their relationship to Abraham is NOT what protected them during the passover, nor will it be what protects them during the coming wrath and judgement of God on this world.  Therefore, the requirement of the blood of a lamb on the doorpost must have been one of God's ways of trying to tell the Jews that having Abraham as their father is not going to secure for them salvation.

ONLY the blood of the sacrificial lamb is what saved them during the passover, NOT their relation to Abraham.  And it is ONLY the blood of a sacrificial lamb that can and will gain the Jews (and Gentiles) entry into the eternal kingdom of God.  That lamb is the Lamb of God, Christ Jesus.
