The Centerville Special (Noel) Garden Railroad,

work in progress. Ask any gardener and they will tell you that you are always
changing and creating. Our garden railroad is a raised bed with a modified
rectangle shape approx 26’ long and 16’ wide. Aristocraft diesels run on the
58' outer loop with a consist of freight cars. The smaller loop is constructed
through a tunnel along the rocky hill of dwarf Alberta spruce, thyme, ajuga,
and lavender. See the hens and chickens peaking threw the rocks. An LGB Steam
Engine headed freight travels along the inner loop. Plans are in the works for
a third loop on top of the mountain.

29218 Stockley Road
Milton DE 19968
OPEN:June 21 10:00 AM to 7:00
PM
Construction begain in 2002,
this railroad is raised 28” with a concrete walk all the way around its roughly
55’ width X 85’ length. The 330’ main
line travels around a 22 X 40’ lake at the bottom of yet to be completed
mountains and 4’ high waterfall. The
main line travels within inches of the water’s edge, just above the rip rap,
making great reflections of the engines and rolling stock. This scene reminds one of Altoona’s
Horseshoe Bend! This is a work that is
still in progress, track is just starting to be laid up the mountains, with tunnels,
bridges, landscaping, and scene building yet to come.
From DE1 South at US 9 intersection (Lowes Lewes) take Right onto 9, and be ready to take immediate left then quick RIGHT onto DE 23 So. (Beaver Dam Rd.) It all started in 2002 with only a 6’ loop around a
Dogwood tree for a Christmas display. Brad & Barbara got hooked. Their Garden Railroad has now grown to about
400’of track. Barbara has her own railroad on the southwest side of the garden
room and Brad has his on the north side running up to Pine Mountain. Their Garden Railroad rambles thru a 35’ X
80’ garden surrounding a 12’ X 24’ patio room.
Six steam era locos travel around mountains, thru tunnels, past a pond,
and over trestles. The Big LGB Sumter
Valley Mallet looks outstanding as it climbs the 50’long 4% grade to the top of
Pine Mountain. The farm and roadside
stand scene is of particular interest!
