Text Box: SHUTTLETRAIN’S WANDERINGS

2013 A Collection of Wanderings- Part Three

Ok, so that brought July to a close, August was right there behind it. August brought along some cool weather too. Mrs. Shuttletrain and I were invited to attend and participate in the Centralia, Illinois celebration of one of last cabooses made in Centralia for the Illinois Central railroad. The Canadian National Railroad agreed to give the caboose to the town and even had its former and current employees restore the caboose to like new. They then brought the caboose from the Centralia car shops to the city park on a flatbed truck and set it next to the Illinois Central 2500 Steam engine that had been brought park in 1962. I was there, although I don’t remember it, I was less than one year old. My father and grandfather took me to see the three day event then. Anyhow, The park was full of people how came to watch the ceremony and the caboose setting.
