Shore Line East Commuter Rail Service is based in New Haven, Connecticut. All the equipment is stored
and repaired at the Connecticut Department of Transporation Commuter Rail Shops. Amtrak is contracted
to operate Shore Line East, providing the train crews, and shop employees. All trains originate out of
New Haven and make deadhead moves to either Old Saybrook or New London each morning, and home to New Haven
each night. Three sets of equipment provide service each day. Most trains operate with the engine facing
toward to New Haven and a cab card toward Old Saybrook.
