We Have a HO scale operating model of the Strasburg Railroad and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania located in Strasburg, PA. The entire construction of the model was accomplished from many visits to the railroad and the taking of hundreds of photographs and measurements while there. The construction of the model was started in May of 1992.

Station Scenes

All the buildings except the switchtower, watertower, and the turntable were scratchbuilt using Evergreen styrene and foamboard. Windows and doors are Grandt castings. All signs are photographs of the actual signs. Over 500 hours were required to complete all of the buildings. Woodland Scenics materials were used for ballast, grass, and trees. The track work is Atlas and Peco.

Yard Scenes

The locomotives and rolling stock were repainted and lettered to represent actual equipment at Strasburg. Various kits were used from Athearn, Concor, IHC, Mantua, and Roundhouse. If a model did not exist, one was scratchbuilt. At this time, the majority of the equipment is represented at both the Strasburg Rail Road and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. The entire collection will soon be completed.

Railroad Museum

Future plans include adding more detail to the entire 4 1/2 mile line of the Strasburg Rail Road from East Strasburg Station to Leaman Place Junction in Paradise, PA. Sites modeled include Strasburg Station and yard, the Red Caboose Motel, the Toy Train Museum, the Esbenshade turkey farm, Cherry Hill, Groff’s Picnic Grove, the beautiful Amish countryside, and Leaman Place Junction. The entire layout measures 104 feet in length. We operate 2 trains on the Strasburg Model Railroad as is done on the real Strasburg Railroad. We also have yard operations on the Museum side of the layout.
