Meridian Aggregates - North Dallas, TX

Meridian Aggregates operates a railcar unloading facility on the north side of Dallas, adjacent to BNSF's Gribble siding on the Madill Sub north of Irving. Meridian unloads carloads of rock here, and loads the rock onto trucks for use in area construction projects.

The unloading facility is located southwest of the intersection of Royal Lane and I-35E. When I visited the area in June 2000, two SW-type locomotives were on hand: TCS 513 and Meridian 123. The Meridian unit has obviously not seen service for quite some time; it has been heavily vandalized with spray paint, several windows are broken, and its rear truck is derailed.
