This is my favorite
station on the new Yellow Line. The art motif is a memorial to all the
Japanese who were forced to register for interment at this location in
1942. The current north building at the Expo Center was converted to a
cattle expo to a human city by merely laying boards over the dirt and
putting up partitions for families. They lived here until permanent
camps were established in California and other desert location.
The Station has Japanese Tori, or
shrine gates, with metal tags. The tag have the names of each person who
was registers. The tags are similar to the number tags each Japanese
was given when they arrived. On the station platform is a luggage chest
and a small child's chest.
This station is currently the end
of the line.
