Welcome to my new website! My name is Ray Dunbar and I'm from deep East Texas. Many
of you know me from the Tri-State/Southwest Rail Meeting which was held in Historic
Union Station in Dallas this past July. I was the chairman of this very successful
rail passenger meeting.
In this first posting I would like to give a basic outline of what I plan to discuss
and not discuss on this site.
Geographical area covered: My definition of the southwestern United States includes
the following states: Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkasas and Louisiana
Topics: Very broad, as long as it relates to passenger rail, either long haul or
commuter. All comments are welcome. I do prefer that the topics be related to the
Southwest area. Examples of topics I would like to discuss include:
Track abandomnent
Ideas for improved rail routes in the southwest region
Trips recently taken by rail or announcements of rail trips or excursions in our
region
Rail station restoration projects
Other ideas will certainly be considered. If you wish to have articles or comments
posted on this site, please e-mail me at vdunbar@iamerica.net. Include a specific
statement releasing your article for posting on this site. Articles will be reviewed
prior to publication for acceptance. Accepted articles may be edited for length. All copyright
regulations will be followed.
Topics I will not consider for discussion:
Political discussions FOR or AGAINST AMTRAK. A number of top notch sites are already
on the Internet for this purpose.
Rail labor disputes
Partisan political discussions
Comments about freight railway unless specifically related to the operation of passenger
rail, either long haul or commuter
I am truly thankful to Steve Grande of Train Web for the help he has given me in this
effort.
If anyone has any comments or ideas please e-mail me at vdunbar@iamerica.net or snail
mail me at P.O. Box 5165, Longview, TX 75608.
