December 15, 2006, was a great day for
US passenger railroading.
Trainriders/Northeast,
with the help of the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority,
Hannaford Market, Global Events, Headlight Audio, OurFair Carousel, and
many happy Amtrak employees pulled off a real class event that included
stirring music, lots of great food and drinks on board, and souvenirs
for lucky passengers. There was a big party in Portland, kids were
special guests up and down the line, and all involved showed that when
citizens get organized, the result can be more trains (a fifth round
trip will be added soon) and good trains. Photos on this page were
taken in Haverhill, MA, and North Station, Boston.
We want to thank Wayne Davis of Trainriders/NE for inviting us along so
we could snap away with great delight. Wayne, Patricia Quinn, Executive
Director, Northern New England
Passenger Rail Authority, and Amtrak put on an event that put many
smiles on
many faces. Learn more about Trainriders/NE, folks in these photos,
and its efforts to expand New England train service at http://www.trainridersne.org/
