On January 14-16, 1999, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad hosted a photo freight charter conducted by Carl Franz. On Thursday the 14th, 25 photographers rode the caboose for a trip up the line. On Friday and Saturday, about 80 passengers were carried in two coaches (which were cut off for some runbys). The following narrative is arranged in geographic order from Cumberland to Frostburg, Maryland.

Consolidation 734 (ex-Lake Superior & Ishpeming 34) was the star of the show. It was taking on water at the Cumberland water plug on Friday evening. (1/15/99)
