PB 15 Class

No.12

No. 12 is example of the Queensland all purpose passenger and goods PB15 Class of 4-6-0 tender locomotive which operated throughout Queensland for most of the steam era in during the 20th Century . No.12 started its working life as A1, the primary motive power on the Aramac Tramway in Western Queensland. Purchased new in 1924 A1 was the only PB15 built ar QGR's Ipswich Workshops.

It was sold to the QGR on 12th February 1958. It became QGR No.1052, then renumbered 12. It was written off in March 1970. It was then purchased by the Turrella Tramway and transferred to its maintenance facilities at Bigglestown for refurbishment.


Preservation:

No.444 PB15 4-6-0 Walkers 89 of 1908 is now displayed at the entrance to the Ipswich Railway Workshops Museum
No.446 PB15 4-6-0 Walkers 91 of 1908 is now at the Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway, Box Flat. The QPSR website also includes a history of this locomotive. www.qpsr.net
No.454 PB15 4-6-0 Walkers 99 of 1909 is now at the Bellarine Peninsular Railway, Queenscliff, Victoria No.454 operates tourist trains on the Bellarine Peninsular Railway, near Geelong, Victoria.
