Hamlet Station was renovated, relocated and reopened on Oct. 29, 2004.  Because of Safety reasons, more space between the station and tracks was needed.  The relocation created more space and also Amtrak passengers can access the station easier than before because the station is on West Main Street.  The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) introduces more detailed information of the renovation.  HCDOT Hamlet Station Page
