On this page you will find a small collection of photos taken on recent trips outside the Central Virginia area. Click on the thumbnails for full size images. All photos are by Paul Wilson. Portland

Los Angeles
An outbound Metrolink train travels south on the West Bank line along the Los Angeles River. F59 877 on the point. Mission Tower stands in the background. May 1997.
Fullerton
Westbound BNSF stack train at Fullerton, California. ATSF C40-8W 915 in Super Fleet scheme leads the train. May 1997.

Roanoke Area
Amtrak excursion train from Salisbury, N.C., crosses over the former Virginian at JK Tower. November 1997.
NS train train 155 comes off the Valley Line and passes the signals at Jefferson St. The former N&W offices are at left. April 1997.

A westbound empty coal train coming and going at Singer, Virginia, on the Christiansburg District. C40-8 8745 and SD60 6606 dig into the grade. April 1997.

NS Tests New Power
In January and February of this year NS tested a pair of Union Pacific SD90MACs. Vic Stone and I caught up with them at Stoneville, NC on Feb. 1st. Two NS units were on the rear shoving this more than 100-car train of grain hoppers.
