Delaware & Hudson Photos - Tim Vermande

Delaware and Hudson
Delaware & Hudson started in the early 1800's as a canal company, but quickly saw the advantage to the new-fangled railroads. Once a sought-after property for its connections, the same changing patterns that affected other Northeastern railroads also left it troubled. Its loyalty to Alco locomotives made it a favorite for train watchers. D&H remained independent when Conrail started. Today it is part of Canadian Pacific.
