In 1972, IC merged with Gulf Mobile and Ohio, to create Illinois Central Gulf. In 1988, Illinois Central Gulf changed its name back to Illinois Central, having spun off many of the old GM&O lines. This road was later purchased by Canadian National. #1243 in Chicago, July 1975. |
