The Chicago, Milwaukee, Saint Paul and Pacific, better known as the Milwaukee Road, headed west and north out of Chicago. It had another line through southern Indiana. Chronically weak in the twentieth century, it cut trackage dramatically in 1977 and was sold to Soo Line in 1985. Portions have since been sold to Wisconsin Central, I&M Rail Link, and several short lines.
