For the Caltrain Section of this index page, CT refers only to "Local" service trains which make every station stop. The various forms of express train service, which operate on weekdays only, ofcourse, will have their own codes assigned to them. Note: Service to the Tamien Station by train is available on Weekdays only. Weekend passengers must transfer to/from special Cal-train operated Thruway Bus Connections at the San Jose Station. Service to/from Atherton Station is available ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS ONLY. Service to the Broadway Station in the city of Millbrae is both by thruway bus connection from a limited number of weekday peak hour service trains in both directions, and directly from all WEEKEND SERVICE TRAINS ONLY..
Twelve peak hour round-trips operate as "Limited-Local" service with a timed-transfer connection at the Redwood City Station. Some of these trains operate local between Gilroy/Tamien/San Jose and San Carlos, then run express on the northern end, while others run the southern portion of thier trip through and including Redwood City as an Express train and then become local enroute at Redwood City to San Francisco. These trains will be shown with the code "LL" in the far right hand column, again, this is to set these trips aside from the traditional limited stop service, which is labeled with the code "LS". All of the limited stop service trains are operated on weekdays only.
There are eleven round-trip trains each weekday which are operated as "Baby Bullet Express" Trains. These trains make a far more limited stopping pattern than traditional limted stop, limited-local, or local service trains. They are labeled on this site using the code "BB". Most of these trains generally operate only between San Jose and San Francisco, although three of them also service the Tamien Station (in the traditional peak direction only - North in the morning and south at night.).
Caltrain Service at College Park is limited to two round-trips on weekdays only to provide service for
Saint Belarmine Catholic Academy students.
