S-2 #105 - November 1991

When I photographed ABL's "new" GP7 #2144 in August 1991, S-2 #105 was out of service and partially stripped. I photographed it, but the photos that day did not turn out all. I returned to Alameda in November, hoping the 105 was still around. I was "lucky" enough to find it was in the same state it was back in August. I do not know the final disposition of the unit, but I assume it was scrapped or sold for scrap.

S-2 #D-4 - circa 1975
Jim Hughes photos

Jim Hughes contributed these photos he took about 1975 of S-2 #D-4 at the Alameda enginehouse. The D-4 is obviously out of service at this point, with all handrails and hood doors removed. If just the side handrails had been removed, I would guess it was for access to the diesel engine. But since the front and rear handrails were also removed, I think it is in the early stages of being scrapped.
