August 2021
Day 3 of the "Railway Heritage Discovery Festival"

Day 3 of the  "Railway Heritage Discovery Festival."  was in Hamburg New York on the 27th, at the foot of Union & Scott Streets in the Village of Hamburg. 4 Scott Street is the home of  "ArtCraft Toy Trains"  in the former Erie Railroad Freight Station. Proprietor, Rick Fisher, has been a huge supporter of the Society for many, many years. Thanks Rick!

The Buffalo Southern Railroad brought their ALCO RS-11 #5010 locomotive and some track equipment for display. The Buffalo Cattaraugus & Jamestown Scenic Railway had an open house on their passenger equipment and was serving food, snacks and pop as well as advertising their upcoming Fall Excursion Schedule.

On August 23rd, Society members Rick Burns and Bob Martin added new vinyl numbers and pinstriping to the firemans' side of the cab. On the 27th, Bob fired up #43 and was at the throttle. Society Vice President, Marty Visciano was the conductor and President Caryl Youngers was the Safety Crew on the ground. For 15 minutes, #43 ran up and down our 60 foot siding. Andrew Henry captured the action.

The fun started at 2:00pm and ran until 6:00pm. Always remember that the Buffalo Southern is an operating railroad, so please follow all safety protocol when ever visiting the Hamburg work site and stay safe.
