January 2003 Update

918-D  December 2002   (Dan Furtado)

January started out slow due to bad weather. Scaffolding was erected to access the radiator grills and upper panels. By the second week we had all of the grills off on the right side.
The panels behind the grills are being removed. Heavy rust damage being discovered.
The panels will need lots of repairs.

Another panel just before removal. Some area will need new metal welded in.

Rust damage where panel once was. This is part of the drainage area for the radiators. This area was filled with dirt and rust which held in moisture and caused most of the damage.

New batteries were installed on Saturday January 18th. Don McPherson's tail-end can be seen protruding from the battery compartment as he preps the area for paint.

Don managed to grab my camera while I wasn't looking and managed to get this shot of me needle scaling one of the upper panels.
