October 2004 Update

During October we spent a lot of time working on final paint on the right side.  Starting with the rear, both the middle and lower panels were painted. Then the numbers were added. This was actually finished in late September. Then we moved on to the upper panels that contain the shutters. This was pinted silver. Then the middle panels were painted orange. We stopped at the cab door and moved over to the left side. We will come back later to paint the silver on the lower panels. We're still working out the final details for the proper letters that will be added. We will be using the original "EMD Gothic" 6 5/8" lettering that 918 was delivered with.

Grinding the old primer off that we originally used. This was to protect the panels from rust until we were ready for final paint.
