GENERAL: Special lounge cars for use on Amtrak's Coast Starlight train's sleeping car passengers.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: These cars were given to Amtrak at its start back in 1971 and came from the Santa Fe Railway. They were built as high-level buffet-lounge cars by the Budd Company and have undergone a complete refurbishing for use as lounge cars. Amtrak owns a total of 5 of these cars.

NOTES: You won't find these cars in service on any other Amtrak train besides the Coast Starlight. |
