Photos Taken Along The Route Of Amtrak's Empire Service

Amtrak Empire Service Train #280 having just arrived at Buffalo-Depew Station.

Buffalo-Depew Station shortly before departing.

Thanks to an early arrival, I was able to get this night photo of Train #280 at Rochester, NY.
Our power for today's train is GE P32AC-DM #702.

Having arrived early yet again this time at Syracuse, NY, I was able to get this "dawn photo" of the train not long before sunrise.

Getting "dangerously close" to sunrise at Syracuse Station!!!

One more quick photo before leaving Syracuse! This is looking east towards Albany...

Sunrise! I'm reminded of the song of the same name by Norah Jones when I take a picture like this!!!

Taking a very quick break at Rome, NY where we once again arrived early!

Welcome To Utica, NY! On Display outside Utica Union Station is Former New York Central B-11k Class 0-6-0 Steamer #6721,
built by ALCO in 1913 and today owned by the Utica & Mohawk Valley Chapter NRHS.

Now taking another break thanks to yet again, another early arrival, now at Utica Union Station.

Utica is a "Union Station" as the Adirondack Scenic Railroad also operates out of this station with this being the
southern terminus of that railroad. Shown here is some of their equipment parked at Union Station.

A wide-angle view of the beautiful Utica Union Station and Amtrak!

At the nearby Children's Museum, a former Santa Fe dining car and Pennsylvania Railroad Caboose are on display.

Taking a quick break now at Amsterdam, NY. This is another of many photos I like to caption "Amtrak, may all your signals be green!"

Now having arrived at Schenectady, here's one more photo of Train #280.

On the left, Amtrak Train #290 - The Ethan Allen Express prepares to depart Schenectady for New York while on the right with
P42DC #195 on the lead, Train #63 - The Maple Leaf, bound for Toronto arrives in Schenectady.

The "fork in the road" at Schenectady! If you go to the left, you're heading to Buffalo! Head to the right and you're on your way
to Montreal! We'll be heading towards Montreal on the next train (just getting off at Port Henry). See ya on the Adirondack!
