Niles Canyon Wigwags

Another club which I belonged to for a few years, The Pacific Locomotive Association's
Niles Canyon Railway sports three operating wigwags. Two are located at Brightside,
which is about midway between Sunol and Fremont. That is also where the yard is located.
The other wigwag is at a private crossing about 100 yards west of the Brightside crossing.
The photos below shows the double set at Brightside.

Notice that both have a set of flashers and crossbucks installed.
The masts on both have been extended several feet as well.

This is the base to the wigwag pictured above on the right. Notice that this is Railroad Supply Company base.
These are quite rare now and pre-date the Magnetic Signal Company.

This one is located at the crossing just west of Brightside. It is set up similar to the ATSF (Southern California) style plans.
This particular signal comes from the Emeryville CA ATSF Backyard Line and was originally set up a little differently.
For more info on this, go to the Emeryville page.
