REVERSE RPO AHEAD DEPOT minerva yard
Now for the E units. 4258 was built in April 1953.She is an ex-MARC, ex-NJT locomotive but started as an IC engine. Her paint may be rough but, I'm told, there's a sound machine under the rough exterior.       60 is one of the oldest of the four E units. Built in April 1951. She is also an ex-MARC, ex-NJT, but is also an ex-ICG, and started life as an IC engine. All the four E units were remanufactured in 1978 by the Paducah Locomotive Shops of the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for the New Jersey Department of Transportation.     62 is also an ex-MARC, ex-NJT locomotive and started out with the PRR. She was built in April 1951. All these engines were listed as stored and for sale when I photographed them. If they don't remain in Minerva, I hope they got good homes. All were, supposedly, ready to for service.     61 is the newest of the four locomotives. She was built in June 1952.Also an ex-MARC,ex-NJT engine, her history includes time with Pen-Central and a start with the Pennsylvania Railroad. All these locomotives were retired early after their remanufacture. More Minerva yard continued next page Back Next
