McCloud Rails : Equipment & Rolling Stock Details

MCR101

The #101 posed next to the McCloud shop in the early months of 1969...note the presence of both the brand new SD38's and the recently retired Baldwins in front of the enginehouse. The #101 and #102 were delivered in a reddish paint scheme, which the #101 is still wearing in this picture. The pair would receive orange paint jobs in the early 1970's.

#101- Lake Britton, CA, circa 1988. (Picture: 28) Bartle, CA, 4/1992. The McCloud River Railroad purchased two brand new “shorty” wide-vision cabooses from International in 1962 to replace the wooden cabooses used up to that point. The #101 served the railroad for many years, and by the early 1980’s it was the only serviceable work caboose on the property. It remained in everyday service behind freight trains until severely damaged in a yard switching accident in McCloud about 1997. The caboose was not repaired and now is stored in one shed or another in McCloud.
