Royce Avenue

(Later, Dupont Street)

Note the old style crossing gates which more completely closed off both the street and the sidewalks.
A subway was later built here. Streetcar tracks in the foreground are on Dundas Street West.
The Watt Milling & Feed Company opposite Osler Street was located on the Old Bruce.

Subway under construction in 1925. Opened January 18, 1926 it required three bridges (made by The Canadian Bridge Company, Walkerville, Ont.) for the three railway lines (CPR, CNR, exTG&B) and a complicated realigned intersection for Dundas, Annette, (Old) Weston Road and Dupont Streets. It remains unchanged. Note that one-third of the Watt Milling building has been removed.

Looking east on a traffic free Saturday during the Great Depression.

Osler Street in the background.
