New Hope and Ivyland Railroad Warminster PA June 2 2005

The New Hope and Ivyland Railroad may be based at its northern terminus of picturesque New Hope PA, but most of the work it does is at the southern end in Warminster PA. There are several customers just north of SEPTA's Warminster Station. There is at least one customer on the south side of Street Road, which is SEPTA controlled trackage, requiring permission from SEPTA dispatchers before occupying what is called the Warminster Running Track. New Hope and Ivyland also uses Ivyland just to the north of Street Road as its interchange with CSX's local run out of Lansdale PA.

For use in its main freight operations, the New Hope and Ivyland picked up a couple C30-7's from CSX and one from UP. NHRR 7087 started life in 1981 painted in Family Lines colors before getting successive coats of Seaboard and CSX paint, which it wore until it was retired and wound up here in early 2002. In all those years it wore the same number.

Here 7087 is preparing to shove across Street Road.
7087 depositing two covered hoppers on the customer siding south of Street Road.
7087 pulls north to clear the switch so it can reverse and pick up the empties. Although it is a four lane highway with a center turning lane, Street Road is an ungated grade crossing.
After coupling up to the empties, 7087 pulls north back across Street Road.
7087 reverses as the empties will be spotted on the stub end siding north of Street Road.
The brute looks good in Tuscan, black and gold.
