HOn30  - E. Regnans Tramway

This model is of a Bush Tramway and is a tribute Mr. E. Regnans.  The model is designed to a scale of 1:87.1 and runs on 9mm gauge track. The scale/gauge combination is known widely as;

HOn30 or HOn2½ or HOe

009 has a scale of 1:76 

 

Mr. Eustace (Euc. to his friends) Regnans was granted a licence to harvest and mill a timber coup in the Gippsland Ranges east of Melbourne.  

The Mountash Ash tree, Eucalyptus Regnans; mightiest of all the hardwoods, was named after Mr. Regnans at a celebration to mark the recent arrival of a narrow gauge railway into the district. Mr Regnans has made significant contribution to the local economy and in convincing the Victorian Railway Commissioners the importance of building the railway.

 

Scenery

Base scenery is made from carpet underfelt glued down with PVA adhesive with dried tea leaves and Casurina needles sprinkled over the top.

The rocks faces are foam rubber coated with plaster board topping coat and painted.

River rocks are roadside gravel dusted with Bragdon's weathering powders.

Tall trees are Sedum "Autumn Joy" either standing alone or glued to Eucalyptus or Lillypilly twigs

Small Trees are Sea Foam armatures. (Chenopodium aristatum; Alt. Teloxys aristata).

Tree Ferns are made from Emu feathers and pipe cleaners.

Reeds and tall grass are a mixture of Moose, Elk, Deer and Kangroo Hair, Eucalyptus flowers, Woodlands Field Grass, Duck Feathers and bits of twigs.
