Central Wales Freight

37375 + 37174 LLANDOVERY
The first tractor pairing of the day are seen at Llandovery on 6Z80 Margam -
Llanwern empty steel train

66077 PANTYFFYNNON
66077 was stabled in the sidings at Pantyffynnon to act as a thunderbird incase
of any failures on the Central Wales on this unusually busy Sunday!

37401+37426 PANTYFFYNNON
The second pairing are seen arriving at Pantyffynnon on 6M24 Margam to Round
Oak. A multi-working fault lead to later problems for this pair!

37401+37426 APPROACHING SUGAR LOAF SUMMIT
37401 and 37426 on the long 1in60 climb to Sugar Loaf Summit. The multi-working
fault lead to only 37401 powering 1000 tonnes of steel and a dead 37426! The
thrash created had to be heard to be believed, needless to say the train had
real trouble to top the summit crawling along at 4mph most of the way up.

37401+37426 unknown location
Another view of 37401 and 37426 on 6M24. By this time 37426 was powering
judging by the exhaust.

37401+37426 HOPTON HEATH
Another shot of the hellfire pair on 6M24 approaching the tinny Shropshire
station of Hopton Heath where the local population temporarily quadrupled with
the arrival of dozens of enthusiasts chasing the train!

66152 KNUCKLAS VIADUCT
66152 is seen passing over the magnificent Knucklas Viaduct with the 6M82 Margam
- Hardendale empty lime train.

66152 CRAVEN ARMS
66152 is seen arriving at Craven Arms where the Central Wales line joins the
"Marches" line to Shrewsbury.

60072 CRAVEN ARMS
60072 passing through Craven Arms with 6M29 Llanwern to Dee Marsh. This train
did not pass over the Central Wales.

37174+37375 APPROACHING LLANGEILO TUNNEL
Possibly one of my best photos 37174 and 37375 are seen passing through the beautiful
Mid Wales countryside with 6Z83 Llanwern to Margam empty steel train.

37174+37375 NEAR KNIGHTON
With the light slowly fading 37174 and 37375 are seen powering away from
Knighton with 6Z83.

37174+37375 LLANDOVERY
37174 and 37375 are seen again at Llandovery with 6Z83 the return working of
6Z80 which they worked this morning. Interestingly both trains ran empty - the
point of this was beyond me but still, they made nice phot's!

SUNSET
As the sun sets on a brilliant day 37174 and 37375 are seen(?) crossing the
River Towy South of Llandilos with 6Z83.
