Finally, the Empire Builder has met up with the Columbia River.
There is a sign visible below and left of the transmission wires
on the dan that reads: "Rock Island Dam, Chelan County Public
Utilities District, Owned by the people we serve".
The Empire Builder is going to cross the Columbia River on the bridge
in the center of the below left photograph. Conductor Paula
informed me that this bridge was a "bridge within a bridge."
Apparently the bridge had to be replaced without taking the original
bridge out of service.
