"Telegraph Rate Cut By Western Union"
Announced 13 July 1898

With the completion of the Western Union Telegraph Company
circuit between Victoria, British Columbia and Port Townsend,
Washington, the commercial telegraph rate has been cut from
the current $1.10 [Cdn] to 25 cents for ten words. A message
now will only be handled by one company rather than the
	previous three telegraph companies.
