Article Thirty-Two
"Telegraph To The Klondike"
Announced 16 January 1899

There is now every indication of a keen fight developing
between the two rival telegraph companies negotiating for
the construction of the telegraph circuit to the Klondike.
The Canadian & British Columbian & Dawson City Telegraph
Company, and the Northern Commercial Telegraph Company are
now attacking each other's proposals and plans.

Two letters have been received at Vancouver from the
Honourable A.G. Blair, Minister of Railways and Canals,
in which he states that the government is extremely
anxious that the work shall be taken up by private
enterprise and pushed forward as the need is most
urgent communications be achieved in the Klondike.
