Telegraph Nears End?

The Dominion Government of Canada has just anounced that it will give the Anglo-American
Cable Company a $5000.00 subsidy for an improved cable connection between Prince Edward
Island and the mainland. By agreement, the Company will reduce its rates on messages
from points in Prince Edward Island to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, and
Ontario. The effective new rates will move from 50 cents to 30 cents for 10 words, and
from 3 cents to 2 cents for each additional word. A proportionate reduction is made
for Press messages. Rates to Manitoba, British Columbia, the two Territories, and
the United States, are reduced from 50 cents to 25 cents for 10 words, and from 3 cents
to 2 cents for each additional word. The rates of all connecting lines will and must be
	added under the new agreement.
