Article Seventy - Announced: 23 March 1907 Manitoba Telegraph Department


Mr RP Roblin, Premier of Manitoba, has announced the creation of a new portfolio, that of
Telephones and Telegraphs. He also announced the beginning of construction within sixty
days of 1000 miles of lines. This is part of a policy of public ownership. This work will
represent ultimately an expenditure of $10 million dollars. Contracts are being made in
Chicago for equipment.
