GENERAL: These cafe cars were built by Budd Railcar and were Amtrak's first new Food Service cars purchased back in the mid-1970's. The initial order gave Amtrak 492 new short-distance coaches and café cars.
TERRITORY: These cars can be seen all over the Northeast, including the Northeast Corridor as well as the Midwest. They have also been spotted on some West-Coast trains such as trains on the Pacific Surfliner Route.
NOTES:These cars come in several different configurations as they have been refurbished over the years for various services that Amtrak runs or has run in the past. It is possible to see any one of these configurations at any given point on most any train that uses these cars.
