Locomotive & Rolling Stock Restoration - May 2002

31/5/2002

  • W 192 is still at Ferrymead having last steamed on 27 April. It is currently waiting for permission from Alstom to be returned to Linwood Locomotive Depot. Sister Rail Heritage Trust locomotive F 163 recently moved from Alstom's Palmerston North depot to a new home at Feilding.
  • D 140 has had some more stays fitted to the firebox with several more to be installed. The throttle/regulator has been fitted inside the dome.
  • D 26 has been jacked up to enable the wheels and running gear to be attended to. All windows have been glazed after the fitting of the internal shutters.
  • A reshuffle of the carriage shed due to the engineering work has seen vans F 624 and F 2482 placed inside the shed while LB 4803 is temporarily outside. F 78 and F 79 are both in the workshop for the time being.
