Electric Unit To Make First Run At Ferrymead

1/2/2001

The electric overhead extension has been completed into Moorhouse station platform and track bonds have been fitted to the rails. The rails carry the electrical return current from the locomotive back to the substation and bonds are used to ensure a continuous low resistance path for the current. On February 10, the English Electric multiple unit, DM 27 with trailer D 2695, is expected to make its first run under the overhead wires into Moorhouse Station. The DM/D were purchased by two Society members on a private basis and arrived at our site in 1988. The unit is now owned by the Society.
