Ferrymead Railway To Hold "Trolleython"

24/1/2002

The Canterbury Railway Society is to hold a 24 hour "Trolleython" on Friday and Saturday 22 - 23 March 2002, from 5.00 pm to 5.00 pm. The Trolleython will be used as a fundraising event by our junior members. Volunteers are currently being sought to man the trolley during these hours.

Our veteran replica "Kalamazoo" trolley is currently being overhauled to bring it up to a suitable standard for operation during the Trolleython. This trolley (jigger) was built by long-time member Ian Fisher from plans of this type of trolley which is representative of a type used many years ago on NZR.

A Trolleython was last held in March 1990 over a complete weekend (approx 48 hours) to raise funds for the Vulcan Railcar Anniversary Tour which took place in October the same year.
