Here are some photos of the various vehicles, details and accessories I put together for a realistic view of a small 1950's freight center.

I have found that even small details add to the realism of any scene.  Many can be made from spare parts and other items using a little imagination.

The vehicles on the layout are from many different manufacturers, Athearn, Ertl, Wiking, Woodland Scenics, Classic Metal Works, Imex, Life Like and even Eko.  I found that with some weathering and detail painting a $1.99 Eko model can look just about as good as a $9.00 CMW!

This photo shows the electric meter detail on the control tower.  The meter was made from a piece of leftover plastic sprue which was painted silver.  The "glass" dome on the meter was made by using about three large drops of clear nail polish.  Each succeeding drop applied after the prior one was dry.

This photo shows an inexpensive ($1.99 at Walthers) EKO Jeep pickup that I detailed and weathered.  The topper on the back is from a damaged Wiking model that is now a wrecked vehicle parked behind the coal tower on the layout.

This photo shows a lightly weathered and detailed IMEX model.
