CSX 958 crosses Bush Street at Gaslight Square, a name that recalls the conversion of B&O-hauled coal to gas that began here during the 19th century and continued for about a century. Unit 958 is a GE model ES44AC-H.

A mix of freight followed 958, including many uncommon railcars. AOCX is the reporting mark of Aluminum Company of America. The mark and number appears near the center of the car's side, an unusual location for it.

Scribblers love to vandalize the expansive, smooth, white sides of refrigerated units. Each Cryo-Trans car is given a unique name: this one is Ouray.

Arkansas-Oklahoma Railroad purchased this Big Blue boxcar from CSX. Big Blues are Excess Height cars.

CSX 496045 could use more effort from the taggers to protect it from rust. Steel transport cars like this include covers to discourage rust on the products within. Unprotected fresh steel touched by water will begin rusting within seconds.

While waiting for new coil steel cars to be delivered, CSX creatively repurposed a few old gondolas by borrowing a roof from an autorack.

That was quick! Some of the new coil steel cars were in the consist as well. I assume the 499275-499574 numbering represents all the cars in the new group. I don't know why the full range would be painted on.

The slow-moving train took almost 15 minutes to pass Bush Street. The waiting automobile drivers were not as happy as the railfans.

The train curved northwest away from the main line in order to follow the B&O's former Locust Point Branch to Carrollton Viaduct. The truck is southbound on I-95.

This is the end of the same train as seen from I-95 three minutes later. The Montgomery Park building had been a Montgomery Ward warehouse.

CSX 5312 We caught the train's DPU, CSX 5312, atop Carrollton Viaduct. The photo is not the best because the viaduct is difficult to spot from I-95.

The train rumbled into Mt. Clare Yard next, where it paused.

Eventually, it emerged from Mt. Clare Yard (left) and followed B&O's original route west out of Baltimore.

Reversing pushed the consist onto the Curtis Bay Branch that bridges over Mt. Winan's Yard behind the engine.
