HOPA created 2019 when Port of Hamilton and Port of Oshawa consolidated.
Expansion 2020 into Niagara region includes lease of pier space on Welland Canal
(managed by St.Lawrence Seaway Authority). Plus, purchase of 140 acres at Highways 58 and 406
site of former Resolute Forest Products (Thorold South) mill idled March 2017.
The latter for a major distribution facility.

Port of Hamilton is 630 acres with 130 tenant companies with 2100 employees.

Multiple projects under way will include new trackage on site to provide rail access to all areas by all railways.

Much of the major expansions are on former STELCO lands long unused due to downsizing
by U.S. Steel closing steel making blast furnace. MANA Steel #1 Bar Mill SBQ for automobiles.

Steel Transload Facility
Pier 15 NEWEST

A major expansion (2 ha/5 acres) announced November 9, 2022 expending $9.8 Million
($5M Federal funding from National Trade Corridors fund)
to enhance handling steel at this key supply chain gateway.

Fluke Transportation warehouse $6M expansion Pier 15, 450 Sherman Ave. Hamilton.

HOPA 40,000 sq.ft fabric warehouse $5M. Federal Marine Terminals, FMT Pier 12 Hamilton.
Stevedoring and transloading of sugar, road salt and steel.

Max Aicher North America site 69 acres acquired 2010 from U.S.Steel (formerly, STELCO)
Inactive for 10 years due to shutdown of obsolete facilities including blast furnace.
